BECKSTRAND CANCER FOUNDATION APPOINTS JAN SALTA AS NEW GALA COMMITTEE CO-CHAIR

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (February 21, 2008) – Beckstrand Cancer Foundation announced Jan Salta as one of the co-chairs for The Diamond & Pearl Ball 2008. Salta will participate in guest development, secure underwriting, and assist with event coordination for Beckstrand Cancer Foundation’s gala to be held on October 11. The Foundation has worked for more than 30 years to provide a unique combination of financial assistance, counseling and advocacy to cancer patients and their families.

“Beckstrand is fortunate to have Jan Salta as a co-chair for this milestone 5th Annual Diamond & Pearl Ball,” said Lil Spitzer, executive director of the Beckstrand Cancer Foundation. “The gala is one of our most exciting events, serving to raise awareness and funds which support Beckstrand’s programs throughout the year. Jan’s continued support to the organization and to the community as a whole is tremendous, and her leadership will undoubtedly extend the event’s track record of success.”

Salta and her husband, Mike, have been involved with Beckstrand Cancer Foundation since 2004. She knows firsthand how this disease’s devastating diagnosis can affect a family and impact their lives forever; her husband survived a battle with cancer. Salta believes that through the work of the Foundation, coupled with ongoing research and technological advancements, it is becoming possible for more people to survive cancer. “It is such a worthy group and I am continually astonished by what the committee has accomplished through this event in previous years,” said Salta. “Beckstrand Cancer Foundation is special to me because it is so unique in its giving by directly assisting patients and their families not only financially, but also emotionally.”

Event co-chair Kristen Prosser will join Salta at the helm, and the entire gala committee for the 2008 event will include: Trine Ackelman, Laura Cross, Susie Croul, Joni D'Amato, Tracy DiGiorgio, Michaele Hall, Sara Jarrett, Debra Junkin, Tami Kahn, Eve Kornyei, Marsha Orlin, Jenny Petty, Carol Primm, Tara Shapiro, Ariela Shani, Joan Riach, Elyse Roberts, Jan Vitti Rubel, Rae Jean Ryan, Harriet Sandhu, Karen Stewart, and Valaree Wahler.
