FOUR PEARLS OF BECKSTRAND CANCER FOUNDATION ATTRACT BIG GIVERS AT DAVID YURMAN COUTURE COLLECTION BENEFIT

Event Yields $80,000-plus in Sales, Portion of Proceeds to Support Pediatric Cancer Patients

NEWPORT BEACH/COSTA MESA, Calif. (April 24, 2008) – The Four Pearls of Beckstrand Cancer Foundation, which aims to improve and enhance the quality of life of children, teens and families struggling with cancer, announced today that it exceeded its fund-raising goals to support incoming pediatric cancer patients at Miller Childrens Hospital for the coming year. The event, held April 17 at David Yurman Boutique in South Coast Plaza, attracted both new and longtime supporters of the Foundation, who previewed and purchased from a trunk of previously unseen couture jewelry. A portion of the evening’s $80,000-plus proceeds was dedicated to providing care packages on behalf of Four Pearls of Beckstrand Cancer Foundation.

“We’re continually amazed by the overwhelming generosity of our supporters and, of course, very grateful to David Yurman boutique for hosting this year’s benefit,” said Lil Spitzer, Executive Director of Beckstrand Cancer Foundation. “The proceeds from the evening go a long way – in fact, we raised enough to supply 64 care packages to Miller Childrens Hospital; enough to give one care package to every incoming pediatric cancer patient they expect to see this year.”

The custom care packages will include an iPod; $25 iTunes gift card; plush robe featuring the Four Pearls logo; the book, “Why Me,” which explores the journey of a pediatric cancer patient; a disposable camera, cuddly teddy bear; and a daily journal designed by a physician familiar with the therapeutic needs of children with life-threatening illnesses – all presented in a soft but durable canvas bag. Four Pearls has previously supported Miller Childrens Hospital with care packages for incoming pediatric cancer patients, which were very well-received. The David Yurman event proceeds will allow the Foundation to continue supporting the hospital.

Attendees of the elegantly casual event enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres as they browsed and tried on exquisite David Yurman Couture Collection jewelry.
