BECKSTRAND CANCER FOUNDATION PLANS HOPE & HARMONY 5K RUN/WALK AT UC IRVINE TO BENEFIT LOCAL CANCER PATIENTS
Registration Opens for 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Kids Run at Beckstrand.org

NEWPORT BEACH, California (November 4, 2009) – Beckstrand Cancer Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to improving and enhancing quality of life for cancer patients and their families, today opened registration for its inaugural Hope & Harmony Run/Walk, a 5K and 1-mile Kids Run to benefit local cancer patients. The event will host an anticipated 2,500 spectators, athletes and volunteers at UC Irvine, with a Runner’s Village and Expo area located on-site the day of the event.

“We chose the name Hope & Harmony as a way to unite Southern California’s diverse population in the battle against a disease that does not discriminate,” explained Lil Spitzer, Executive Director of Beckstrand Cancer Foundation. “This event is an opportunity for the young and the young-at-heart to celebrate life, raise awareness, and generate funds that will enable the Foundation to continue its very important work in the cancer community.”

Registration for the 5K is $35/pp and includes t-shirt, bib number and goody bag. First, second and third place winners will receive recognition gifts. Children can sign up for the 1-mile kids run for just $25/pp. All child participants will receive a t-shirt, bib number, goody bag and race recognition gift. Incentive gifts will also be awarded to team’s who raise the most funds. Registration forms can be downloaded at www.beckstrand.org. Once completed, they should be faxed to 949.955.0070.
