BECKSTRAND CANCER FOUNDATION NAMED ONE OF 10 BENEFICIARIES OF CASA SURF PROJECT PRESENTED BY RIVIERA MAGAZINE
Designers and Surf/Skate Companies Makeover 10 La Casa del Camino Hotel Rooms
NEWPORT BEACH, California (November 5, 2009) – Beckstrand Cancer Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to improving and enhancing quality of life for cancer patients and their families, today announced it has been named by Riviera Magazine as one of 10 local charities to benefit from the Casa Surf Project. The magazine, a Modern Luxury publication, developed the venture to infuse guest rooms at La Casa del Camino Hotel with surf, skate and beach style – and lend a helping hand to nonprofits amid a soft economy.
“Being headquartered in Newport Beach our every day is influenced by the local coastal and surf cultures, so we are honored to be included as a beneficiary of the Casa Surf Project,” shared Lil Spitzer, Executive Director of Beckstrand Cancer Foundation. “We hope that locals and visitors alike will book their accommodations at the historic boutique La Casa del Camino hotel with the knowledge that a portion of the proceeds will be used to support cancer patients with day-to-day living expenses and patient advocacy help. More than a year and a half in the making, the Casa Surf Project paired 10 brands with interior designers to create living spaces that incorporated local touches, characterized the surf, skate and beach lifestyles and utilized local craftsman and vendors. Lost, Billabong (men’s and women’s), L *Space, Roxy, Quiksilver, Rip Curl, Etnies and Glaceau Smart and Vitamin Water captured the spirit of the redecoration project with surfboards, canvas art, custom lighting and bedding, and original furniture design.
