The pain, uncertainty, and confusion caused by a parent's or a child's cancer can reach new heights during the Christmas season, which carries high expectations for comfort, happiness, and carefree family unity. For many families struggling to pay for therapies or living for the first time without a paycheck, the BELIEVE program reaches out to provide the spirit of Christmas to local families living with cancer. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and a team of elves deliver gifts, toys, food, trees, and holiday magic to local families living with cancer who's financial and physical limitations would otherwise deny them traditional celebration.
Families in need are identified through the Beckstrand patient database, partnerships with CHOC, Hoag Cancer Center, Pacific Shores Medical Group, SOS, and referrals from across the healthcare and social work communities.
Donors specifying BELIEVE as their choice of program may directly assist a single family through "adopt-a-family." Different levels of personal engagement are available.
